Strathcona Provincial Park and Area

I left Courtenay in the morning of June 30est direction Campbell River where I spent two days one day on a Campground with all the facilities that you can get and the other day on the Elk Falls campground. This campground was in a forest about 3km below the Elk Falls. The water drops there about 25 metres into a canyon with steep cliffs on both sides.

The neyt morning I drove up to Buttle Lake which is in Strathcona Park. It was a scenic drive along different lakes and rivers. I visited some waterfalls and spent the night in Buttle Lake Campground. To get water there, I had to pump the water up. I also jumped into the lake which wasn't very warm but very refreshing.

Today, I went down to Gold River on the West Coast, where I planned to stay for one night but there were only pricy Motels and since I need a shower, the campground wasn't an appropriate place to stay. But it was still a good decission to visit Gold River because it was close to there, where I saw the first blackbear. It was a puppie and just traped in front of my car so that I had to hit the brakes and swerve out. I also coulden't use the gravel road I planned to use to get to Telegraph Cove because it is in bad condition. So I had to drive all the way back to Campbell River to take Highway 19 further north. Right now I managed to get a site on a campground just outside of Campbell River. At least they have hot showers and internet access. So I can start my trip tomorrow to Telegraph Cove refreshed and showered.
