The last week

From Cranbrooke I headed to the Ainsworth Hotsprings, this ride was over Creston and then along Kootenay lake and across the lake by ferry. Along the Kootenay lake I visited the Glashouse a little castle that a retired man built with glas bottles. In the evening I soaked in the Ainsworth Hotspring Resort which was very relaxing.

The next day I drove up a very steep and bad gravelroad to Cody Caves where I did a one houre tour. After another bumpy ride down I made my way over Kaslo and New Denver to Nakusp.

After an other night in Revelstoke, I slowely started to make my way over Kamloops and Whisler back to Vancouver where I arrived three days later.

Because I hadn't to cover a big distance the next day, I spent the afternoone on the beach of lake Invermere which had a refreshing temperature. After some troubles with the slidedoor of my van, I could finally drive to the natural Lucier Hotsprings and soak a little bit in the small pools.

The next day I headed to Kimberley a cute bavarian town. In Kimberley I booked a little mining tour which wasn't as exciting as expected but still a nice change.
After the mining tour I drove to Canbrooke which is the biggest town in the Colombia Valley.

Lake Louise to Banff

Friday the 1th of August I arrived in Lake Louise in the early evening. The weather wasn't the best and that was probably the reason why I thought other lakes which I've seen during my trip look more beautiful than famous Lake Louise but I still got some good shots of it. Because all campgrounds in Lake Louise were full and other accomodation was overprised, I dicided to drive further direction Banff finaly I could get a spot at the Johnston Canyon Campground which was perfect to discover the Johnston Canyon early the next morning.

Around noon I arrived in Banff and because it was a long weekend it was very difficult to find a place to stay overnight. Finally I found a campground about 15km out of town. I stayed for two days in Banff which is a very touristy place and they don't have a lot of tourist attractions more little things they tried to set up as tourist attraction. But over all it was a nice weekend downtown Banff is quiet interesting with all the candy and souvenir shops.

Icefield Parkway

After I left Jasper I went to Mount Robson Prov. Park and after I started to cover the 230km drive on the Icefield Parkway which took me 3 days to complete. The weather wasn't the best but I still could get some nice shots of the Athabascan and Sunwaptha Falls and the glaciers and colourful lakes. I spent the first night in an alpine hostel with no power and running water but the panecakes in the morning were delicious.

After passing the Columbia Icefield seeing some Bighornsheep and a Grizzly I spent the second night on a campground.
